Sigh.

Dinner turned out disgusting tonight. Soggy egg noodles topped with uncooked oniony runny stroganoff. Even I was disgusted. And I'm not a picky eater. Especially if I take the time to make the food. On a good night dinner is mediocre at best. I didn't really start cooking until I got married seven and a half years ago. Improvement-wise, I cook about four times a week instead twice a month. (On a good month). Yet the quality of edible tastiness is about the same.

In our last fourplex everyone else's stove (except ours) was replaced because they wore out. In our last ward (aka church group) I was one of a few people that would sign up to bring people meals when they were having surgery, babies, etc. And there used to be a lot of surgeries, babies, etc. And did you know they eventually stopped asking me to bring people free food? That was even after I gave up and just started buying pizza for everyone.

Ammon says cooking is like algebra because you do things in a certain order. I despise algebra. Also, I am perfectly happy eating cereal and frozen popsicles for dinner every night. There are about two thousand different kinds of cereal --- and that's enough variety for me. Salad is good too. I think I make a decent salad. Or maybe it's just the salad dressing that makes it bearable.

Once I was so mad that dinner didn't turn out (again), I made an entire bag of spaghetti and meatballs. And we ate that every night for dinner for a week. Mom's theory is if you have a bad dinner, you should have an extra yummy dessert. Thank goodness for ice cream.

Ammon suggested I learn how to cook. Acutally, his exact words were, "You tube isn't just for funny videos," to which I responded, "That's blasphemy!"  Maybe this is a self-fulfilling prophecy, but I don't think I'll ever sorta kinda possibly enjoy cooking no matter how long I try or attempt to learn.

You are so funny. I love the ovens being overworked and you being asked to stop helping. Cute. Seriously, Ammon cooks? Wow! This surprises me about you. I really would've pegged you for a cook because I remember your mom being quite the cook. And your Grandma came and helped your mom with a Christmas Dinner the ward had one year (Don't mean to rub salt in the wound). Oh, well, at least you aren't alone. I hear this plight often. In fact I made the same receipe my cousin made last night and it wasn't even half as good as when she made it. I don't do chicken well, evidently. They don't have an entire freezer section of premade entrees at the grocery store for nothing.

I LOVE cereal AND popsicles! I lived with you for a WHOLE year and never knew you were a bad cook!! I learned from the Food Network, seriously..Where is Cheffy when you need him?! How 'bout the crock pot? Can't go wrong...a little meat, a little sprite and WaaLaaa! Dinner! GoodLuck!

You wouldn't believe how many disasters I've made and eaten over the years! Like soccer, it's a matter of "shots on goal". The more you try, the better the odds that something good will turn out. PB&J is a good out for me when a dish bombs out. Your honesty is your virtue. It is also the essence of a great cook.

The extent of my cooking in college has been ground beef, ground sausage, or eggs, and I don't really consider that cooking. I did make a disaster once--something with macaroni. Other than that, I just heat it up in the microwave or on the stove, or just eat cold stuff. I did bake a cake, once, but it's kind of hard to get that wrong when it comes in a box. Happy cooking!

I didn't know how to cook until I got married either. Now I think I do pretty good, although there is a disaster every now and then. I wish we were still neighbors - we could try out some stuff together!

YOU brought ME dinner when I had my baby and it was DELICIOUS! I even asked you for the recipe. So there. :)
